The New Hampshire Department of Transportation notified the city on Friday that the Oak Street bridge closure will be postponed until September.
NHDOT now plans for the work to occur between Monday, Sept. 18, and Friday, Sept. 29. During that time, the Oak Street bridge that crosses the railroad tracks between Portland Avenue and Broadway will be closed to all traffic to make bridge repairs. Only the bridge will be closed when the work occurs. All nearby residents will retain access to their homes; access will also be available to Salmon Falls Stoneware.
The repairs will allow the bridge to be used until it’s replaced, currently scheduled for fiscal year 2027, according to the NHDOT’s 2023-2032 Ten-Year Plan.
