You must make an appointment

Passport Service Appointments

Please note: The passport application process will take from 20-60 minutes per applicant. More time may be needed for complex cases involving citizenship, parental guardianship, or last-minute travel. In the event that a passport acceptance agent believes the process cannot be completed prior to the library closing, you may be requested to make another appointment.

For more information about fees, how to obtain a passport, U.S. citizenship, or current proof of identity, please visit the Department of State website , call the National Passport Information Center (877-487-2778) or call the Dover Public Library (603-516-6050).

Passport Renewal

If you are renewing an expired adult passport that was issued within the last 15 years, you will have to apply by mail. Renewal forms are available online through the State Department website and at the Dover Public Library.

All Other Passport Applications

For new adult passports, any child passport, and any renewal of a passport issued more than 15 years ago, you'll need to apply in person. Please review the following information pertaining to the passport application you are seeking to complete.

Please note the Library does not take passport photos. You will need to have those ready at your appointment.

This fee depends on a variety of factors. See the Department of State website  for more information.
We recommend that when you make your appointment with us that you verify what the fee will be.

This fee can be paid only by cash, check, money order, or cashier's check.

Where can I get a copy of my birth certificate?

If you were born in New Hampshire, visit the state Department of Health’s Vital Records page. If you were born in another state, visit the CDC’s page with links to each state’s vital records contact information and website.

Where can I get information about the status of my application?

Status information is available through the National Passport Center (877-487-2778).

Can I apply for a visa at the library?

Passport application acceptance agencies do not handle visas. A visa is an endorsement or stamp placed by officials of a foreign country on a U.S. passport that allows the bearer to visit that foreign country. Foreign entry requirements vary by country. See the Special Issuance Agency page for information.
