The City of Dover will replace an aging and undersized water main on Rollins Road and Highland Avenue, with mobilizing equipment to the site beginning this week. The City of Dover’s water system supplies water for a section of Rollinsford through a franchise agreement.

The new water main will be installed on Rollins Road from the Oak Street intersection to Highland Avenue, and on Highland Avenue. New public water service lines will also be replaced. The City of Dover has contracted with MacKinnon and Sons to perform the work for $425,000

Workers will mobilize equipment and supplies to the project area on Thursday, Oct. 8, with excavation work on Rollins Road starting on Monday, Oct. 13. The project is estimated to take about 35 work days, conditions permitting. Trenches will be paved for the winter with final pavement slated for 2027.

Rollins Road will be reduced to one lane of alternating traffic during work hours, Monday through Friday, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., when workers are present. Flaggers will also be at the Oak Street intersection when work occurs there early in the project. Motorists should anticipate delays through the area.
