The City of Dover will host a community information session on accessory dwelling units (ADUs) on Thursday, April 30 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. in the Community Room at the Dover Police Station, 46 Chestnut St. This is a great opportunity to learn more about ADUs, whether you’re just exploring ADUs, have a project in mind, or just want to learn more. Register for this free event.

City staff will provide an overview of zoning, permitting, and the approval process, as well as highlight financing options for ADU construction or conversion. The discussion will also cover common questions, misconceptions and barriers. Attendees will have a chance to connect with local organizations offering ADU-specific loan options. Staff from Planning, Zoning, and Building Inspections will be on hand to answer questions and talk through your specific property or ideas.

An accessory dwelling unit is a smaller home that is located on the same property as a main, single family home. An ADU includes independent sleeping, eating, cooking, and sanitation facilities.
