City administrative offices, including City Hall, will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 23, and Friday Nov. 24, 2023, for Thanksgiving. In addition, city administrative offices will close at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 22.

The Public Library will close at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 22, and will be closed on Thanksgiving Day and Friday, Nov. 24. The Public Library will also be closed on Sunday, Nov. 26, for the annual holiday parade.

The Recycling Center on Mast Road will be closed on Thanksgiving Day. 

All Recreation facilities will be closed on Thanksgiving. The Dover Arena and Indoor Pool will be open during regular hours on Friday, Nov. 24.

The Dover Community Senior Center is closed on Thanksgiving Day and Friday, Nov. 24.

Inspection Services, located at the North End Fire Station, will be closed on Thanksgiving Day and Friday, Nov. 24.

Curbside trash and recycling pickup will be delayed one day on Thursday and Friday only. Thursday's collections will occur on Friday, and Friday's collections will occur on Saturday.

In addition, fall leaf collection is also delayed. Due to staffing shortages, Waste Management will remain two days behind schedule for fall leaf collection only for the duration of the pick-up cycle.

Thanksgiving is a parking holiday and no payment at the meters is required, except for the Orchard Street Parking Garage, which is paid parking at all times. Downtown parking is also free on Friday, Nov. 24, part of the the Plaid Friday initiative to encourage shopping local. 

At its Nov. 21 meeting, the Parking Commission approved a request by the Dover Downtown Retailers Coalition to also include Shop Small Saturday as a parking holiday, except for the Parking Garage.
