Retirement of K9 Barco

The Dover Police Department is proud to announce the retirement of K9 Barco.  Barco, a Belgian Malinois born in 2013, has proudly served the citizens of Dover and greater Strafford County since 2014.  Over the course of his career K9 Barco had over 500 deployments during which he located missing persons, recovered evidence, and tracked wanted fugitives.  K9 Barco attended many community events and took part in numerous canine demonstrations across Strafford County, as an ambassador for the Dover Police Department.  K9 Barco also proudly served as a member of the Strafford County Regional Tactical Operations Unit for a majority of his career, assisting with high risk calls across Strafford County.  Those who have been impacted by the work of K9 Barco know that the work these trained canines do is irreplaceable and he will be greatly missed.  K9 Barco will retire at home with his handler and trainer Sergeant Matt Brown.
