To begin playing, download a free app called ActionBound to scan the QR code for the scavenger hunt. QR codes can be found on the library’s website (library.dover.nh.gov). Players will work to complete at least 15 of the 40 missions using historical markers, monuments, and some online sleuthing. Completing 15 missions will earn one entry into the raffle. Completing all 40 will earn three raffle tickets. The game does not need to be played all at once and is designed to be done over several days. For those looking for a less expansive challenge, there is an easier version with clues focused on the Downtown Dover area and places within walking distance. The Dover 400th Easier challenge is a total of 15 missions, and they must all be completed to earn a raffle ticket. Those who wish to play for fun can opt out of the final prize.
The scavenger hunt can be accessed offline with the app, and no internet connection is needed to play until participants wish to submit their game. Players also have the option to skip questions and go back to them later, making the game very flexible.
Everyone is invited to participate; you do not need to be a library cardholder to join the fun. Explore the city and learn its history with the Dover 400th Scavenger Hunt.
This program is free and open to the public.
