To complete work for the City of Dover drainage project on Broadway, contractor George Cairns and Sons Inc. will again need to temporarily close a small section of the road to all through traffic at New York Street from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. starting tomorrow, Tuesday, Jan. 12, through Friday, Jan. 15.
Traffic has been restricted to a single lane in the work area, alternated by a temporary traffic signal. However, this week the area will be closed completely to allow the contractor to complete utility work. Red’s Shoe Barn, Details Salon and Spa, and White Water Car Wash will remain accessible at all times during the traffic closure.
New York Street at the intersection of Broadway remains closed and impassable to all traffic, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Through traffic on Broadway will be diverted around the worksite via Pierce Street, Central Avenue and Ham Street.
When Broadway closures are in place, a traffic control flagger will be assigned to the intersection of Central Avenue and Pierce Street to ensure that through trucks do not travel on Pierce Street. A police officer will be assigned to the intersection of Ham Street and Central Avenue to help detoured traffic from Ham Street make left turns onto Central Avenue.
