Dover's Fourth of July Fireworks display to launch from Garrison Hill

The Fourth of July fireworks return this year with a show from atop Garrison Hill Park.

As it has been in the past, the fireworks display will be on the night of July 4. The City is again working with Atlas Pyrovision Entertainment of Jaffrey to create the fireworks show.

Recreation Director Gary Bannon said the decision to shoot the fireworks from Garrison Hill Park this year was to allow people to disperse throughout the city to view the fireworks instead of gathering en masse at Henry Law Park.

For best fireworks viewing, Bannon said to find a location where you can clearly see Garrison Hill and the Garrison Hill Tower. There are some places, such as Henry Law Park, where the site line to the hill and tower is blocked.

There will not be any concerts or activities at Henry Law Park for the Fourth of July this year. The New Hampshire’s Army National Guard “39th Army Band,” a staple of local Fourth of July festivities, is not available this year, as its members have been deployed to aid in COVID-19 vaccinations around the state, Bannon reported at a Recreational Advisory Board meeting earlier this spring.

The annual fireworks display was canceled last year due to concerns of spreading the COVID-19 disease.
