Dover Fire Chief Paul Haas announces the recent promotions of three
members of Dover Fire and Rescue.
Haas promoted Capt. Keith Irwin to Division Chief of Emergency Medical Services, Lt. Craig Comeau to Captain, and Engineer Matt Michaud to Lieutenant.
“Planning and forward momentum have been hindered by the COVID-19 pandemic, so to see individuals like Matt, Craig and Keith maintain the initiative to continue advancing their careers is a refreshing observation,” Chief Haas said. “Their success will help to maintain the level and quality of service that the citizens of Dover have come to expect from Dover Fire & Rescue.”
In addition to their achievements in rank, all three have previously undergone the rigorous study requirements to achieve a paramedic certification, which Chief Haas said “exemplifies their commitment to continuing education, and their desire to provide the highest level of care and service to our community.”
Division Chief Keith Irwin was hired as a firefighter in May 1998. Irwin has also served the department as a paramedic/engineer and lieutenant. In 2019, he was promoted to captain.\
Capt. Craig Comeau was hired as a firefighter in July of 2003 and later served as a paramedic/engineer and lieutenant before his recent promotion to captain.
Lt. Matt Michaud was hired as a firefighter in January of 2009. Before his promotion to lieutenant, Michaud served as a paramedic/engineer for the department.
