Dover Arts Commission soliciting artists and businesses for Dover Art Beat exhibits

The Dover Arts Commission is working with artists, area businesses, the Greater Dover Chamber of Commerce, and the Dover Main Street Program to connect businesses and visual artists.

The Arts Commission’s goal is to encourage local businesses to display local art and give artists an alternate display venue other than specific galleries or themed gallery shows. This also provides the public more opportunities and locations to view artwork.

How the Dover Art Beat program works :

• Artists join the Dover Art Beat roster by uploading their information to the link below.
• Businesses select an artist to partner with from the Art Beat artist roster. The number of pieces exhibited is determined by the available space; no space is too small.
• Exhibits will run for a minimum of four months. Once a business and artist have connected, a contract will be sent for each party to sign.
• Any sales generated by the exhibit require a 20% commission to the business.
• The artist and the host location will arrange the time for the work to be installed and picked up at the end of the display period. The length of the show is determined by the two parties.
• Artists will receive a $100 stipend from the business for exhibiting their work.

Current exhibits include:

• Sarah Cassani’s work displayed at Dr. Jody Low Family Dentistry
• Nicole Soucy’s work displayed at Cinco De Mayor Restaurant
• Paige Foster’s work displayed at Dupont’s Service Center
