City Council calls for special election for vacant state representative seat

The City Council voted unanimously on Wednesday to request the Governor and Executive Council to order a special election to fill the state representative vacancy that represents Dover Ward 4 constituents.
The special election would fill the seat of Hoy R. Menear of Lee, who died recently. Menear represented Strafford District 11, which includes Dover's Ward 4, Lee and Madbury.
The City Council requests the special election occur before March 15, 2024, and preferably on March 12, 2024, which coincides with Lee’s Election Day.
