School Board to hold budget workshop Monday

The School Board will continue its budget discussions at a workshop this Monday, Feb. 28.

The workshop's focus will be for the School Board to identify its budget priorities if the City Council reduces the amount of the School Board's fiscal year 2023 budget the School Board adopted Feb. 14.

The adopted budget is $74,955,953. It maintains current staffing levels in the school district and funds 11 new full-time and part-time positions the School Board identified as priorities during its budget workshops. The 11 positions and associated costs are included in the meeting's agenda materials. The adopted budget also provides an estimated amount for a new teacher contract, as the current one expires this August. The School Department's fiscal year 2023 budget would require $50,033,789 to be raised by local property tax and is $4,155,311 above the estimated tax cap for the school side of the budget.
