The deadline to change political parties before the New Hampshire Presidential Primary is Friday, Oct. 6, New Hampshire Secretary of State David Scanlan announced this month.

Scanlan also announced that the filing period for the Presidential Primary is from Oct. 11 through Oct. 27. He will announce the Presidential Primary date later this fall.

Dover voters who want to change their party affiliation before the primary should do so at the Dover Clerk’s Office in the Customer Service Center on the Ground Floor of City Hall, 288 Central Ave. It is open Monday through Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Registered voters may check their voter information by visiting https://app.sos.nh.gov/viphome.

Undeclared voters can vote in the Presidential Primary, but they must choose either a Democratic or Republican ballot and will become a registered member of that party. Those who wish to return to undeclared status after voting can sign a form to change back to undeclared before leaving the polling place when the Presidential Primary occurs. Only voters registered as undeclared can change back to undeclared at the polling place after voting.
