The 2018 State Primary election was held on Tuesday, Sept. 11. Polls in Dover were open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
There were three separate ballots in a primary election: One for registered Republicans, one for registered Democrats, and one for Libertarians.
Voters who were undeclared, and who wished to vote, could declare a party on the day of the primary and received that party's ballot. Voters could change party status back to undeclared by signing a form at the polls, following the vote. Voters already registered as Democrat or Republican cannot change party affiliation until one day after the election.

The filing period for the State Primary was June 6 to 15, 2018. The last day for registered voters to change party affiliation was June 5.
