Dover Police Chief William Breault announces the following road closures for the 38th annual Reds Shoe Barn “Race for a Better Community” event. It includes a 5-mile timed run and 2.4-mile untimed walking course, held simultaneously as part of the Dover Race Series. The event is organized by and benefits six local non-profit organizations that provide services in Strafford County. More information is available at http://reds-race.com/.

The event begins at 10 a.m. on Sunday, April 7, 2019 in front of Dover City Hall. Both courses end at Henry Law Park.

Road closures, restrictions in place Sunday for race

Dover Police Chief William Breault announces the following road closures for the 38th annual Reds Shoe Barn “Race for a Better Community” event. It includes a 5-mile timed run and 2.4-mile untimed walking course, held simultaneously as part of the Dover Race Series. The event is organized by and benefits six local non-profit organizations that provide services in Strafford County. More information is available at http://reds-race.com/.

The event begins at 10 a.m. on Sunday, April 7, 2019 in front of Dover City Hall. Both courses end at Henry Law Park.

The following road closures will be in effect between 9:45 and 11:30 a.m. on Sunday:

  • Henry Law Avenue, from Washington to Hanson Streets
  • Washington Street, east of Main Street
  • River Street

Between 9:45 and 10:15 a.m., Central Avenue will be closed in both directions from Silver to Washington streets to accommodate the start of the race. Additional brief closures or traffic delays will be in effect on Court Street, Middle Road, Back Road and Henry Law Avenue between 10 and 11:30 a.m.

Parking restrictions will be in effect on Sunday between 6 a.m. and 12 p.m. on Henry Law Avenue from Washington to River Streets. Event participants may follow signs for event parking near Washington and River streets, or park in the Orchard Street municipal parking garage, or in any other downtown municipal lot.
