City staff will hold a public informational meeting on the plans to reconstruct Central Avenue from Stark Avenue to Silver Street on Tuesday, May 19, at 6 p.m. at City Hall. Staff anticipates soliciting construction bids this fall, with work to begin in spring of 2027.
Roadway reconstruction include upgrades to underground utilities, drainage systems, roadways surfaces, sidewalks and other related infrastructure. The project will also improve the Central Avenue intersection at Stark Avenue, East Watson Street and Jenness Street. The project is being designed to be safe and accessible for all users regardless of age, physical ability or mode of transport.
The city has contracted with Sebago Technics, Inc. to assist with designing the project. Staff from Sebago Technics will also be at the informational meeting to discuss the design of the project.

This project has qualified for $4,500,000 million in Congressional Directed Spending, which requires a $1,125,000 match from the city.
