The City Council will consider authorizing additional downtown pedestrian and vehicle improvements at its meeting on Wednesday, May 27. A pending resolution would authorize the contractor selected to complete improvements at the Waldon Court intersection with Central Avenue to complete similar improvements at intersections of First and Second streets for a cost of $352,695. The city would utilize unexpected bond proceeds from the Fifth and Grove Reconstruction project, which was authorized by the City Council in March.
Also on the agenda are resolutions to purchase two six-wheeled dump trucks for Community Services at a total cost of $341,008, which includes an extended warranty. The trucks will be upfitted with plow gear and sander equipment through a previously approved resolution and are anticipated to be ready for the 2027 winter season.
The Council will also approve a memorandum of understanding for monitoring of the Pudding Hill aquifer with Radius Recycling, Inc., formerly known as Schnitzer Steel Industries. Radius Recycling would reimburse the city for $103,900 for monitoring costs specifically related to the contamination of the aquifer.
