The City of Dover’s Community Services Department will host its third annual Touch-a-Truck and Open House on Saturday, May 16, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Community Services facility, 271 Mast Road.
The free, family-friendly event is being held in celebration of Public Works Week, May 17-23. The open house will give residents a chance to meet Community Services staff, learn more about the work they do throughout the year, and get an up-close look at the vehicles and equipment used to maintain Dover’s roads, utilities, parks and public spaces.
The event will include a Touch-a-Truck display featuring vehicles and equipment from Community Services, Dover Police, Dover Fire and Rescue, Waste Management, Pine Tree Helicopters, Moore’s Crane Rental, S.U.R. Construction, Northeast Earth Mechanics, Severino Trucking Co., and others. Children and families will be able to explore trucks, construction equipment and emergency vehicles, with staff and operators available to answer questions.

Activities will also include live demonstrations, a “Paint a Plow” activity, free ice cream, food from Goodfellas Grub food truck, vendor displays, children’s activities and more. Several city departments and community partners are also expected to participate, including the Dover Public Library, Planning and Community Development, Dover High School and Dover Middle School FIRST Robotics, and the Dover Doers.
Other participants and vendors expected at the event include Wight-Pierce, Warrenstreet Architects, Martini Northern, Underwood Engineers, VHB, Kleinfelder, Apex, Lickee’s & Chewy’s Candies & Creamery, First Student, MB Tractor & Equipment, Select Excavation, Rochester Motorsports, Bob’s Automotive & Wrecker Service, Heritage Home Service, and more.
Parking for visitors will be available on site, with the main event entrance located near the front parking area. The event is open to the public.
