Nighttime paving operations will begin Sunday night, June 12 and continue through Wednesday morning, June 15. They will begin downtown on Sunday and move operations to upper Central Avenue on Monday night. A more detailed schedule is below. 

Henry Law Avenue, Washington Street and Main Street

The contractor for the Washington and Main Water Improvements Project will begin paving operations Sunday night, June 12. The contractor plans two consecutive nights of work to mill the pavement, followed by daytime sidewalk restoration and raising road structures in preparation for a full pavement overlay. The full pavement overlay will begin Sunday night, June 19, and continue for three nights. Paving operations are weather dependent. Inclement weather may impact the below schedule.

Sunday, June 12, from 6 p.m. to 6:30 a.m., Monday, June 13

Mill pavement on upper Henry Law Avenue, Washington Street from Central Avenue to Water Street, and Main Street, from Washington Street to Chapel Street.

Sunday night parking restrictions:

Parking will be prohibited from 6 p.m. Sunday, June 12, to 6:30 a.m., Monday, June 13 at:

Sunday, June 12, from 6 p.m. to 6:30 a.m., Monday, June 13

Mill pavement on upper Henry Law Avenue, Washington Street from Central Avenue to Water Street, and Main Street, from Washington Street to Chapel Street.

Sunday night parking restrictions:

Parking will be prohibited from 6 p.m. Sunday, June 12, to 6:30 a.m., Monday, June 13 at:

  • First eight spaces on Henry Law Avenue closest to Washington Street;
  • Both sides of Washington Street, from Central Avenue to Makem Bridge;
  • On Main Street, from Washington Street to Chapel Street.

Monday, June 13, from 6 p.m. to 6:30 a.m., Tuesday, June 14

  • Mill pavement on the eastern side of Central Avenue, from Chapel Street to Broadway;

Monday night parking restrictions:

Parking will be prohibited from 6 p.m. Monday, June 13, to 6:30 a.m., Tuesday, June 14 at:

  • Western side of Main Street, from Washington Street to Chapel Street;
  • Eastern side of Central Avenue (Days Inn side), from Chapel Street to Broadway;
  • First three spaces on Broadway closest to the Central Avenue intersection.

Additional Washington Street and Main Street daytime parking restrictions

In addition to the parking restrictions for paving operations, there will be daytime parking restrictions from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. tomorrow, Tuesday, June 14, for sidewalk restoration work at the following locations:

  • North side of Washington Street, from TD Bank driveway to overhead garage door between the Noggin Factor and Smutlabs Brewery.
  • West side of Main Street from Picker House to School Street.

Upper Central Avenue

Paving operations will begin on Central Avenue between Abbey Sawyer Memorial Drive after completing downtown work described above. The work is now anticipated to begin Tuesday night, June 14. The contractor plans two consecutive nights of work to mill the pavement on Central Avenue from Abbey Saywer Memorial Drive to Glenwood Avenue. Pavement milling will be followed by daytime work of raising road structures in preparation for a full pavement overlay. The full pavement overlay will begin Monday night, June 20, and continue on Tuesday night, June 21. Paving operations are weather dependent. Inclement weather may impact the work schedule.

Planned schedule of night operations

The milling work on upper Central Avenue is scheduled for:

  • Tuesday, June 14, from 6:30 p.m. to 6:30 a.m., Wednesday, June 15;
  • Wednesday, June 15, from 6:30 p.m. to 6:30 a.m., Thursday, June 16.

Traffic will be reduced to one lane, alternated by flaggers. Motorists should anticipate delays.

The raising of road structures will occur from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, June 15 through Friday, June 17. Traffic will be reduced to one lane through the work area, alternated by flaggers. Motorists should anticipate delays.
