Council to hold workshop on sports complex initiative, homelessness, affordable housing and master plan

The City Council will hold a workshop on Wednesday, March 2. Agenda items include an introduction to the private organization called the Dover Sports Complex Committee, an update on homelessness and the warming center, a review of the city’s Master Plan, and a discussion about ongoing affordable housing strategies.

According to agenda materials, the Dover Sports Complex Committee is a private committee that seeks to work with the City of Dover to entice a developer to create a multisport athletic complex and an aquatics facility with onsite parking. The committee eyes Maglaras Park as a potential location for the project and plans to solicit interested parties through a proposal that is included in the agenda materials.

Agenda materials also include recommendations from the chapters of Dover’s Master Plan. The City Council receives an annual update on the Master Plan ahead of the introduction of the City Manager’s proposed city-wide budget this spring.
