Broadway and Oak Street Water Transmission Replacement

In the coming weeks, the City of Dover Community Services Department will be overseeing the replacement of the existing water main within Broadway (from Florence St. to Oak St.) and within Oak St. (from Broadway to Highland St.). Due to this work, temporary disruptions to your property and utility services may be required. The City of Dover’s Utilities Division of Community Services will be temporarily shutting down the water main that provides water to your property.

Work is scheduled to begin on Monday, June 9, 2025. Work hours will be restricted to 7:00 am – 5:00 pm Monday through Friday.

The City intends to limit the temporary shutdowns to the nighttime when the demand is lowest but some shutdowns may be required during the daytime hours. Twenty-four-hour notice will be provided ahead of each scheduled water shutoff and crews will work to restore water service as quickly as possible. During the project, there may also be non-scheduled water service interruptions due to unforeseen conditions. Residents are encouraged to be prepared for emergency water interruptions.

Access to properties within the project area will be available throughout the work but residents should expect temporary road and driveway closures.

Vibration from machinery in the streets is anticipated and residents are cautioned to remove valuables hanging from walls during the work period.

This work will conclude on or around Nov. 6, 2025.
