History

The location of the Dog Park was recommended in the City's Recreation Master Plan in 2009. City staff worked with residents and dog owners in the fall of 2009 to design the park. Construction of the park was funded by the Recreation Improvements Fund, where $12,000 in impact fees from developers had been set aside for upgrades to parks on the north end of the City.

The site required a significant amount of preparation, but the city was saved months of work thanks to Eagle Scout Daniel Gow of Somersworth. As part of his Eagle Scout Service Project, Daniel removed piles of brush to help prepare the site.

Middleton Building Supply, which is adjacent to the park, provided 10 parking spaces for overflow parking at the Dog Park.
