The City of Dover has appointed Deputy Fire Chief Brendan Driscoll as the new chief of Dover Fire & Rescue. Driscoll will lead the department upon the retirement of current Chief Perry Plummer on Jan. 31, 2026.
Driscoll brings 17 years of experience in fire and emergency medical services, including several years in command roles. A lifelong Dover resident, he attended Dover schools and graduated with honors from the University of New Haven in Connecticut, earning a dual bachelor’s degree in fire science administration and arson investigation. He joined Dover Fire & Rescue in 2009 and has served as a firefighter/paramedic, company officer, shift commander, and, most recently, deputy fire chief.
“Chief Driscoll has proven himself to be a competent and capable leader and has earned the respect of his colleagues through his commitment to providing the exceptional level of service our community has come to expect,” said City Manager J. Michael Joyal, Jr. “I have full confidence that he will serve the community well as our next fire chief.”
