Dover Police hold DARE graduation for more than 200 fifth-graders

Dover Police Chief David Terlemezian is pleased to announce that the Dover Police Department held its Drug Abuse Resistance Education (DARE) graduation for Dover Middle School on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, in the school gymnasium. A total of 207 fifth-grade students celebrated the completion of the 12-week DARE curriculum.
This year’s ceremony marked a return to the large-scale format traditionally used for DARE graduations prior to the pandemic.
More than 120 parents and family members joined students, teachers, and school staff to celebrate the accomplishment. Also in attendance were several city and school leaders, including Chief Terlemezian, Superintendent Christine Boston, and Mayor Dennis Shanahan, along with several members of the Dover City Council. Setting property tax exemptions, FY25 audit and financial report on Council agenda

At its Wednesday, March 25 meeting, the City Council will hold a public hearing on a resolution that would revise property tax exemptions and qualifying criteria for the elderly, blind, deaf and disabled.
The exemption and criteria levels would be increased consistent with changes and market values and the Consumer Price Index, according to the resolution, and be in effect for April 1, 2026. They were last revised for fiscal year 2025. Those seeking property exemptions must file their applications with the Tax Assessment Office by April 15 to be effective for fall property tax bill.
The City Council will also hold a public hearing on a resolution to reprogram unexpended appropriations from the Garrison Hill Park project to the Nebi Park and Pavilion, and on a resolution to reprogram unexpended bond proceeds from the Fifth and Grove Reconstruction Project to the Downtown Traffic and Pedestrian Improvement Project.
The City Council will receive a presentation on the fiscal year 2025 audit and annual comprehensive financial report, which will occur during the City Manager’s Report.
