CIP - Education

The Education portion of the proposed CIP totals $1,927,000 in FY2021. More information about the first year requests can be found below. Refer to the CIP book for FY2021-26 for a complete list of proposed projects for fiscal years 2022 through 2026.

Transfer to Capital Reserve - Curriculum

Transfer of funds from the operating budget into reserve account for payment of future large curriculum upgrade projects. This reserve fund will be used in conjunction with the annual curriculum funding in the general operating budget to ensure adequate funding is available for curriculum upgrades without having large increases in tax rates.

Cost: $350,000

Transfer to Capital Reserve - Facilities

Transfer of funds from the operating budget into the existing School Facility reserve account for payment of future facility upgrade/improvement projects. This reserve fund will be used to ensure adequate funding is available for school facility upgrades without having large increases in tax rates.

Cost: $250,000

Transfer to Capital Reserve - Information Technology

Transfer of funds from the operating budget into the existing School Information Technology reserve account for payment of future IT upgrade/improvement projects. Capital Reserve funds are used in conjunction with general Operating Budget and E-Rate reimbursements.

Cost: $50,000

Transfer to Capital Reserve - Athletics

Transfer of funds from the operating budget into the existing School Athletics reserve account for payment of future athletic upgrades, improvements and any replacement and or repair projects.

Cost: $20,000

Curriculum Replacement and Upgrade

Planned curriculum review and upgrade per Curriculum Cycle. Expenditures from this account ensure that adequate funding is available for curriculum upgrades without having large increases in tax rates. 

Cost: $300,000

Facilities/School Maintenance and Repairs

Maintenance and repairs to include:

  • Mechanical and ventilation systems to include, but not limited to plumbing and electrical upgrades
  • Roof and insulation
  • Window replacement
  • Life Safety
  • Paving and Striping
  • Replacement and expansion of bathrooms
  • Remodeling and enlarging of classrooms to NH state standards
  • Improvement to grounds
  • Energy efficiency upgrades

Cost: $100,000

Furniture Replacement

Replacement of classroom furniture.

Cost: $25,000

Information Technology Replacement and Upgrade

IT Replacements and upgrades to include:

  • Infrastructure Improvements, including replacement of Servers/Routers/Switches
  • Annual Replacement of Hardware, (Desktops, Laptops, IPads, Chromebooks, etc) on a 5 year lifespan cycle
  • Replacement of print solutions and other related hardware
  • Large scale replacement of software programs

Cost: $152,000

DHS Bleachers

Funding for the replacement and/or renovation of the bleachers at Dunaway Field have been noted under the Athletics Capital Reserve Fund request.

Cost: $350,000

DMS Locker Relocation

Removal and relocation of existing lockers to the new area in hallway of three wings at Dover Middle School to provide an open concept student learning workspace.

Cost: $40,000

Facilities Space Needs Study

To develop long-term facilities needs and usage plan, the District will contract a consultant to conduct a comprehensive facilities space/needs study. The study will be inclusive, but not limited to demographics, population, and functional use of educational facilities for future use. It is expected to have a projection of city growth and impact on schools; recommendations for building modifications, additions, and possible new facilities. In addition, independent evaluation of shifting attendance areas and/or modification in grade alignments for the current schools.

Cost: $50,000

Garrison Elementary School Roof

This project will likely involve the removal of the existing TPO membrane, inspect and replace any damaged insulation, and install new coverboard and roof membrane. In order to save the existing insulation below the membrane, completion of project is recommended to occur no later than the summer of 2020 (fiscal year FY2021).
