The library is open

This is what our opening will look like:

  • We will be open Monday – Friday from 9 to 5.
  • The 9am to 10am time slot will be reserved for our elderly or medically vulnerable patrons.
  • If you have symptoms of COVID-19, including fever or cough, please do not enter the building.
  • We kindly request that patrons wear masks. If you do not have one we will provide you with a disposable one.
  • 22 patrons will be allowed in the building at a time and of those 22 – 8 will be allowed in the Children’s Room.
  • The parking lot door, near the Children’s Room, will be the designated as the entrance door, and the front door will be the exit. This does not apply to our patrons in need of the elevator, or families exiting the Children’s Room.
  • Patrons will be allotted 1 hour to be in the building to give computer users enough time to get their work completed. However, we appreciate patrons keeping their visits as short as possible.
  • Please follow all social distancing protocols. We will have decals on the floor denoting 6 foot spacing at service desks.
  • Please no food and drink in the building due to the fact that patrons would need to remove their masks to consume.
  • Please return all materials in our outside book drops. We will be putting all books into quarantine for 3 days and checking them in on the 4th day.
  • Hand sanitizer will be available at all service desks.
  • We have relocated our DVD collection into our Lecture Hall to allow for more spacious browsing.

Curbside pickup

Pick up hours are 10 AM - noon and 4 PM - 6 PM on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

FILL OUT THIS FORM TO SCHEDULE A TIME TO PICK UP YOUR HOLDS

You must let us know when you are planning to come to pick up your holds. The easiest way is to fill out this form where you can tell us when you are coming. Or you can email us at libraryquestions@dover.nh.gov (include your library card number as well as date and time you will come), or call (603) 516-6050. You must notify us that you are planning to come by 10 AM on the working day before you will come. For Monday pickup, you need to let us know by 10 AM on Friday.

Only items that are on hold as of 10 AM the day before will be available for pick up.

When you arrive, please stay 6 feet apart from any other patrons. The items will be on tables under the portico at the Children's Room door. Each patron's items will be wrapped in paper, with the first three letters of the patron's last name and their first initial written on the paper. The items will already be checked out to you. Just grab and go!

Bookdrops are open

All returns must go in the bookdrops.  We will not accept returns in the building.  There is a Media bookdrop next to the Children's Room Door for fragile items.

We will quarantine all returns for at least 72 hours before we check them in.  Items returned on Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday will be checked in on Monday

Library cards

If your library card has expired, please give us a call at 603-516-6050 and we'll get it renewed for you.

You can apply for a new library card online.

Fines

We will not charge any fines until July 13.

If you have items that were checked out before the pandemic they have been assigned new due dates (July 13 or later).  You can return them anytime in the bookdrops.

The librarians are here to answer questions
