Court Street & Union Street Reconstruction Project

Court Street & Union Street Reconstruction Project

The City of Dover has targeted Court Street and Union Street for street reconstruction due to underground utilities, drainage concerns and roadway/sidewalk conditions.

The City recently solicited a request for qualifications from civil engineering firms for consulting design services to assist in the investigative and design work associated with the project. The firm will evaluate existing utilities before design to confirm their condition and location, allowing the City to reuse utilities in good condition.

The City's goal is to reconstruct the roadway and sidewalks as part of the utility upgrades, including extending Court Street's sidewalk from South Pine Street to Hubbard Road. The engineering firm will also evaluate the intersection of Back Road/Court Street/Middle Road to identify opportunities to increase motorists, bicyclists, and pedestrians' safety. Design is anticipated to begin in Spring 2021, with construction starting in 2022.
