Energy Advisory Committee
WHEREAS: In June 2006, the Dover City Council agreed to sign on to the Cities for Climate Protection Campaign, also known as “Cool Cities”; and

WHEREAS: There are opportunities for the city of Dover to look at local energy solutions that may include heating, lighting, vehicles and renewable energy, among others, that have the potential to make for a healthier City and the possibility of saving taxpayer dollars; and

WHEREAS: The City does not currently have a committee charged with reviewing the energy uses within the operations of the city of Dover but there has been interest expressed by citizens for the formation of such a committee;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND DOVER CITY COUNCIL THAT:
The Mayor, with approval of the City Council, shall appoint a five to seven
member Ad-Hoc Energy Advisory Committee, including the Chair, for the
purpose of exploring energy alternatives that have a positive impact on the City’s energy costs and overall climate related issues. This committee shall work with
the City Manager, or his designee, and report to the City Council in an advisory capacity, on an as needed basis. This committee shall be created upon approval of appointments by the City Council and will complete its work by December 15,2007.
