Road closures and traffic restrictions in place for Thanksgiving Day race

Dover Police Chief William M. Breault announces the following road closures and parking restrictions for the Dover Turkey Trot 5K run/walk event, organized by and benefiting the Garrison Elementary School PTA. This is the final race of the 2019 Dover Race Series.

On Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 28, 2019 at 8:30 a.m., Shaws Lane will be closed in both directions between Garrison Road and Tideview Drive, for a period of approximately 15 minutes to accommodate the start of the race (8:20 to 8:35 a.m.). Garrison Road will be closed in the westerly direction at Morningside Drive from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m., with traffic diverted through the Morningside neighborhood.

Between 8:30 and 9:30 a.m., motorists should expect additional delays in the following locations:

• Back River Road and Garrison Road
• Garrison Road and Shaws Lane
• Back River Road and Spruce Lane
• Mast Road and Spruce Lane
• Linda Avenue, Riverdale Avenue and Morningside Drive

Parking restrictions will be posted on Shaws Lane to be effective on the day of the event. Event parking will be available in the lots adjacent to the Shaws Lane parking lot, the upper field parking near Garrison and Back River roads, and in the Morningside Drive, Meridian Drive and Shadow Drive neighborhoods.
