Call for Cast Members: Woodman Museum’s “Voices From the Cemetery” event returns Sept. 28-29

For its sixth annual re-enactment event, the Woodman Museum will present a new edition of “Voices from the Cemetery” on Sept. 28 and 29, 2019 on the grounds of Dover’s picturesque and historic Pine Hill Cemetery.

Cast members and tour guides are being sought to act, lead groups, or provide event assistance during this two-day production when famous (or infamous) Dover residents will rise from the dead at their gravesites to entertain you with details from their most interesting lives. All acting roles are for adults, but no acting experience is required. We are seeking individuals with an interest in bringing history to life, and in helping Dover’s oldest museum, now in its 103rd year.

In a dozen scenes, laid out all over Pine Hill Cemetery, history will come to life in September during the 60-90 minute escorted tours of this burial ground that dates from 1731. You will learn about 37 noted, nefarious, or notorious Dover citizens who will come to life beside their headstones, regaling visitors with tales of mirth, woe, and amazement. Among the residents lifting their voices in the cemetery will be colonial settlers, sea captains, business and real estate leaders, politicians, industrialists, and even a famous children’s author.

Tickets for “Voices from the Cemetery” will go on sale by mid-September at the Woodman Museum and on its website. This is a family-friendly tour, suitable for all ages. Because of the uneven ground in the cemetery, the tour is not wheelchair accessible.

Prices are $15 for adults and $5 for children under 12.
