Parking restrictions, road closures in place Sunday for Horne Street 5K

Dover Police Chief Anthony F. Colarusso, Jr. announces the following:
On Sunday, Sept. 17, 2017 at 9 a.m., the following street closures will be in effect for the Horne Street School 5K Run and 2 Mile Walk event, part of the Dover Race Series:

  • Sixth Street, closed in the northerly direction from Whittier to Grove, 9 to 9:30 a.m.
  • Horne Street, closed in both directions between Glenwood and Redden, 8:45 to 10 a.m.
  • Whittier Street, closed in both directions between Sixth and Glenwood, 9 to 9:45 a.m.
  • Glenwood Avenue, closed in the easterly direction from Sixth to Whittier, 9 to 9:45 a.m.

Motorists should expect detours or delays on Sixth Street, Whittier Street, Horne Street and on Glenwood Avenue between 9 and 10 a.m. Dover police personnel and a number of event volunteers will be on hand to help manage the flow of traffic along the race route. The start and finish point for this event is the Horne Street Elementary School.

On-street parking restrictions will be in effect on the entire length of Conifer Commons and on a portion of Horne Street on Sunday morning. Limited event parking is available at the school. Those attending the event are encouraged to park legally on some of the surrounding neighborhood streets, or at the Hannaford plaza at 831 Central Ave., which is a short walk from the school.
