The filing period for the special election for state representative in District 13, representing Ward 1 in Dover, opens Monday, Aug. 28 and closes Friday, Sept. 1, 2017. The special election was approved by the Executive Council on Wednesday, Aug. 23.

The special election follows the resignation of state Rep. Isaac Epstein on June 30.

Candidates for the special election can file with the Dover City Clerk's office at City Hall on Monday, Aug. 28 and Tuesday, Aug. 29, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Candidates filing after Aug. 29 and through Sept. 1, must file with the Secretary of State's office in Concord.

The Supervisors of the Checklist will meet on Friday, Aug. 25, from 3 to 3:30 p.m. to register new voters interested in filing for the vacancy.

A primary election, if necessary, will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2017 and the special election held on Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2017. If a primary is not needed, the election will be held Oct. 24.
