Important Basketball Notes

Sign-up Early: A certain amount of planning is essential to ensure our participants have a successful season, and if we don't know how many participants we have, we cannot plan accurately. Please help us plan by signing up early!

You can also register in person during our normal business hours at the McConnell Center; 61 Locust Street in Dover. Enter Door # 3 and go down the stairs.

Coaches/Volunteers: We depend on volunteers to help with almost all of our basketball programs. We will be offering a coaches clinic this season, so if you are interested in coaching, please email Krista by November 1st - the sooner the better!

Programs

Lil' Shots:
Grades K-2
1/9/2010 - 2/27/2010 (Saturdays)
We offer an 8:00am and a 9:00am session, each lasting approximately 45 minutes. This program is taught using stations, with the help of our volunteers from the DHS basketball teams. There is a maximum of 60 participants in each session and it is co-ed.
Fee:
Before November 30th: $50/residents
After December 1st: $60/residents; $80/non-residents

Midget Basketball:
Grades 3 & 4
12/5/09 - 2/27/2010 (Saturdays, and one weeknight practice per week - not held 12/24/09-1/2/09)
After the first week, players will be placed on teams. Each Saturday will be broken up into instructional and game time. There will also be one night of practice during the week. Girls and boys participate in different sessions for this program.
Girls: Saturdays 10:15-11:45am at Garrison Elementary School. Weeknight practice time TBD.
Boys:
The first Saturday (12/5/09) will be held from 12-1:30pm at Garrison Elementary School. The remaining Saturdays will be 10:15-11:45am at Woodman Park Elementary School. Weeknight practice time TBD.
Fee:
Before October 31st: $60/residents
After November 1st: $70/residents; $90/non-residents

House League
Grades 5 & 6
This is an in-house league that plays the majority of their games on Saturday mornings, with practices held during the week. Each team practices twice per week, and games are scheduled to start December 5th. We will start this program with a skills clinic before we draft teams. The goal of the player draft is to try and balance the teams to ensure a competitive league. The Saturday clinic will be held on Saturday, November 21st. The clinic will be held at Garrison Elementary School.
9:00-10:00am: 6th grade boys
10:00-11:00am: 5th grade boys
11:00am-12:00pm: 5th & 6th grade girls.
There is a separate league for boys and girls for this program. Pre-registration is strongly encouraged. If you cannot attend on November 21st but are interested in signing your child up, please do so ahead of time! If you sign up after November 21st, we cannot guarantee a spot will be available on a team.

After November 1st: $80/residents; $100/non-residents

Junior High Basketball
Grades 7 & 8
If we have enough players enrolled we will have an in-house league. If we do not have enough to form an in-house league, then we will be competing against neighboring towns/cities. Each team will have two practices per week and a game on the weekend. If you play on your school team, then you are not eligible for this program. Skills clinic for this program will Saturday December 5th at the McConnell Center Gym. Boys are from 3-4pm and girls are from 4-5pm. Pre-registration is strongly encouraged.

Girls HS Basketball
Grades 9-12
This program will begin with a clinic on Saturday December 5th from 2-3pm at the McConnell Center Gym. There will be two practices per week with games on some evenings and weekends. This is a great opportunity to continue playing against area teams (those playing for their school teams are not eligible). Space is limited; we may have tryouts if interest is high enough.

Before October 31st: $70/residents
After November 1st: $80/residents; $100/non-residents

Boys HS Basketball
Grades 9-12
Teams will practice and play both during the week and on weekends. There will be a mandatory skills clinic on Saturday December 5th from 1-2pm at the McConnell Center Gym. Those playing for their school teams are not eligible for this program. Space is limited; we may have tryouts if interest is high enough.

After November 1st: $90/residents; $110/non-residents
