Mounted Patrol Introduction

The Mounted Patrol Unit was initiated as part of the departments proactive approach to crime prevention, while re-allocating limited resources to provide more effective service. The Mounted Patrol is a practical approach to specific law enforcement problems, providing increased visibility and approachability.

The Dover Police Mounted Patrol Stable Facility on Cocheco Street in Dover, sponsored by Public Service Company of NH, is not generally open to the public. However, the officers and horses are available to visit schools, civic groups, parades or other events as available and upon request.

To request a visit, please contact the Dover Police Field Operations Commander, Captain Michael Raiche at 603-742-4646.

Horseshoes for Heroes

A group of local businesses have formed Friends of the Dover Mounted Police, which is organizing a fund raiser called HORSESHOES FOR HEROES to raise funds to help feed, care for and maintain the mounted police horses.

Horseshoes for Heroes Fund raising event was a great success with a strong turnout. Thank you to the community and those that supported us. The Mounted Unit will continue its fundraising efforts throughout the year in order to provide for the mounted police horses. If you are interested in supporting the Mounted Unit, please contact Officer Murch or Officer Caproni at 603-743-6145.
