Dover Police Chief Anthony F. Colarusso, Jr. announces the following street closures and parking restrictions for the Greater Dover Chamber of Commerce’s 25th annual Apple Harvest Day activities.
On Saturday, October 3, 2009 from 6:00 AM until 5:00 PM, the following streets will be closed to all traffic:
• Central Avenue from Third to Washington Streets
• First, Second and Third Streets
• Henry Law Avenue from Washington to Williams Streets
Central Avenue traffic will be diverted to Chestnut Street. Motorists should expect delays on all downtown streets. Parking for the festival will be available in the Third Street, Fourth/Chestnut and Library/McConnell Center municipal lots, the Dover Transportation Center lot, and at CARE Pharmacy. A free shuttle will be provided from these lots to the center of the festival near the Children’s Museum of New Hampshire.
Additionally, there will be brief road closures associated with the inaugural Apple Harvest 5K Road Race, which begins at 8:30 AM. These will include a closure of Central Avenue from Washington to Silver Streets at the start of the race, and a closure of Washington and Main Streets east of Central Avenue between 8:45 AM and 9:30 AM. The race will also require brief closures or traffic delays on Court Street, Samuel Hanson Avenue and Henry Law Avenue. More road race information is available at www.dovernh.org.
Parking restrictions in the following areas will be in effect overnight Friday and through the end of the festival on Saturday:
• Central Avenue from Third to Washington
• Henry Law Avenue from Washington to indoor pool lot entrance
• First Street and First Street municipal lot
• Main Street (until 11 AM Saturday only)
