The City of Dover will be surveying residents in the coming weeks to aid in identifying
municipal service strengths and future budgeting priorities. The survey is being
undertaken as part of the City's overall program to further "Dover Community
Connections" - a coordinated effort involving ongoing neighborhood meetings and other
regular communications encouraging greater citizen input and participation in their local
governance.Over the course of the next month, written survey questionnaires will be mailed to a
random sampling of Dover citizens, asking for their feedback on the quality and
responsiveness of city services. The survey is derived from the National Citizen
SurveyTM,a scientifically accurate and reliable study that efficiently measures citizen
opinion. The survey's results will ultimately be tabulated and included in a final report
that will aid city officials in planning and budgeting for the future. For residents not
included in the random mailing, copies of the survey questionnaire will be available for
completion on the City web site and at counters in City Hall and the Public Library.
Beginning in 2004, Dover was the first city in New Hampshire to utilize the National
Citizen SurveyTMto assess resident's satisfaction with community amenities and local
government service provision. In addition to providing comparisons with past survey
findings, this survey tool allows for benchmarking of results with like communities from
across the country.
