| Mission Statement To efficiently and effectively handle the recycling and waste management needs of the City of Dover to meet all areas of responsibility including compliance with Federal, State and local laws, collection of household hazardous and yard wastes, provide the most cost effective markets for recyclable goods and to assist the community through education to be as environmentally conscious as possible.
Goals for the Department
- Coordinate and oversee curbside recycling
- Manage Recycling Center
- Provide household hazardous waste collection
- Collect/compost yard waste
- Coordinate with State and Federal agencies to insure compliance with all applicable laws
- Apply for and administer grant money to aid in programs
- Administer Bag & Tag Program
- Support and assist the Solid Waste Advisory Commission
- Monitor waste stream
- Provide public information
- Manage contract with curbside waste and recycling vendor
- Seek new technologies and ideas to further reduce the waste stream
- Promote Bag & Tag program on a regional, State and Federal level

| FALL LEAF CURBSIDE COLLECTION |

| 2009 FALL LEAF PICKUP The 2009 curbside leaf collection will take place over three weeks: October 26th – 30th November 9th – 13th November 23rd – 27th Bagged leaves will be picked up on the same day as your trash and recycling. Please remember that Veteran’s Day collection will be delayed one day from Wednesday thru Friday and Thanksgiving and the day after will both be delayed one day. Leaves must be placed in biodegradable PAPER leaf bags. Paper bags can be purchased at local hardware stores and home improvement centers. No brush will be accepted. Questions can be directed to the Community Services Department at 516-6450.

| Winter Hours at the Recycling Center begin on November 3, 2009 The Recycling Center (located at 265 Mast Road) will be open: Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 8AM to 4 PM and Saturday from 8AM to 4 PM Seasonal Sunday Hours: 3rd Sunday in September thru the 3rd Sunday in November and 3rd Sunday in April thru the 3rd Sunday in June 8AM to 4PM |
