| WHAT DO I NEED TO DO TO REGISTER TO VOTE? |
 |
If you are a resident of the City of Dover, who will be 18 years of age, or older, and are interested in registering to vote, the process is fairly simple:
You need absolutely nothing to register to vote, but if you bring in the following information registering to vote will involve less paperwork.
1. A Photo ID (preferably a driver's license that shows your current Dover address to show proof of residency. If your ID does not have your current address on it, then you could show a utility bill, lease, mortgage, car registration, checks etc. If you do not have proof of residency then you will be asked to sign a Domicile Affidavit.
2. Citizenship can be proved with a birth certificate, valid U.S. passport, If you are a naturalized citizen you will need to show a copy of your citizenship/naturalization papers. If you do not have these papers you will be asked to sign a Citizenship Affidavit.
3. If you are already registered voter in the City of Dover, but have moved to a new Ward, you need to re-register to vote following the same rules as above.
You may register at the polls if you have not registered in Dover before Election Day. This is a called "same day registration."
