Banners Across Central Avenue

The City of Dover has two banner locations in the City available to be used by non-profit charitable organizations registered with the State of New Hampshire, to advertise a particular event.

The first location is across Central Avenue in front of Wentworth Douglass Hospital. The second location is across Central Avenue in front of St. Mary Academy.

Effective July 1, 2008, the banner procedure changed and is as follows:

1. The City of Dover schedules banner hanging ONLY. The City of Dover does not provide services for the hanging or removal of banners in the air space above city streets.

Organizations scheduling dates for hanging/removing banners are required to use the services of the City’s exclusive vendor. All costs for the hanging and removal of the banner are the responsibility of the non profit organization. (See Sundance Sign Contact Info for further details.)

Payments should be made directly to the vendor. Organizations are required to drop off and pick up banner as well as pay for both the hanging and removal of banners directly with Sundance Sign.

2. If you are interested in hanging a banner at one of the above City locations, please call Colleen Bessette in the City Manager's Office at 516.6023. She will first verify if you qualify, and then check to see if the dates you are looking for are available. All banners hang for two week periods.

3. If you qualify and your dates are available, you will be placed TENTATIVELY in the banner schedule.

4. Once you are tentatively in the schedule, you can download the Banner Application for Hanging form and return it to Colleen in the City Manager's Office. (See Banner Application Form page for more details.)

5. You will remain on the tentative schedule for a two week period. You must return your application form to Colleen within two weeks (or call her for an extension of time) or you will be taken off the tentative schedule to allow the spot to be available to others.

6. The cost of any services provided by the City of Dover regarding the banner for emergencies or otherwise will be billed to the organization.
